VoIP is not free. And has never been!

VoIP Providers used to associate VoIP to free calls too many times. But, I want to say nothing in life is free.

Although companies can make real costs savings using the IP telephony, the reality is that home VoIP users often don’t. Since what is really free into that technology is only VoIP to VoIP calls, furthermore, UNDER THE SAME PROVIDER!

Providers these days set what they call ‘peering agreements’ with few 3rd parties VoIP providers. Meaning, your internet call from provider A to provider B will be totally free of charge in that schema only. And again the problem is, because there is always a problem, these agreements are not automatic at all. So , it worth asking which peering agreement is running before choosing the right provider on the market.

VoIP has become popular largely because of the significant cost benefits over traditional telephone networks. But it is simply a way of using Internet for phone conversations. The objective now for consumers is to use the high speed connection to replace the phone lines.
